Laureen Leituala knows all too well the importance of her own mother Yvonne, having had four children of her own (including a set of twin boys) and another on the way.
“Mothers Day is a time to celebrate the blessing my mother is to us all. Even though I am a mother I still feel it’s a time to honour my mum and to thank her for everything she does for (me and) my children”.
Laureen grew up with two brothers and was always encouraged to be confident and self-reliant. Now pregnant with her fifth child she credits her mother for helping her cope with all that motherhood entails while striking a balance, “Being the only girl I was urged to be independent and capable of looking after myself. Mum encouraged me to always look after others but to also take time out for yourself”.
Strong family support has allowed Laureen to get rest whenever possible. “At times I feel very spoilt…my parents help with my other children and I am able to have the rest that I need. My husband is also very hands on and assists wherever possible. I have a great support system.”
